Frame it Forward – Using Portraits to Give Back This November

Every year, I look for ways to use photography for something bigger than business. This November, I’m launching Frame it Forward, a project offering mini studio portrait sessions to raise money for causes that matter.

For $50, you’ll get a 15-minute photo session and one high-resolution image. $30 from each session is donated directly to the charity you choose. Extra images are available for purchase if you want more.

The Charities

Here are the four charities you can support when you book. Each one is doing important work in Aotearoa, and I believe in what they stand for.

KidsCan

Helping Kiwi kids in hardship get a fair start.

KidsCan provides food, jackets, shoes and health products to children in low-income households across New Zealand. With the cost of living rising, more families are struggling to meet basic needs. KidsCan steps in to ensure children can focus on learning, not on whether they’ll have lunch. I’ve worked with them before and seen first-hand how much impact even a small donation can have.

Mental Health Foundation

Supporting mental wellbeing for all New Zealanders.

Mental health affects all of us, and the Mental Health Foundation promotes tools, education and support to help people thrive. Whether it’s workplace wellbeing, suicide prevention, or community support, their work is grounded in compassion and empowerment. Their positive, inclusive approach to mental health is something I truly admire.

Breast Cancer Cure

Funding life-saving research for a breast cancer-free future.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer for Kiwi women. Breast Cancer Cure is the only not-for-profit in New Zealand solely focused on finding a cure. They fund innovative scientific research, with the goal of stopping breast cancer in its tracks. I know families affected by this disease, and I want to be part of the solution by supporting their work.

HUHA (Helping You Help Animals)

Rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals in need.

HUHA is New Zealand’s leading no-kill animal shelter. They take in abused, neglected or abandoned animals and give them a second chance through expert care and love. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph some of the animals at their sanctuaries, and their commitment to every single life is something special. A portion of my dog portrait sessions also supports HUHA year-round.

Why I Started Frame it Forward

Over the years I’ve done a lot of community and charity photography work. Last year’s KidsCan project showed me how powerful even a single photo can be—not just for the person in it, but for the cause behind it.

Frame it Forward is my way of turning studio time into something meaningful. It’s about making professional portraits more accessible while also creating impact where it’s needed most.

Whether you’re doing it for a good photo, a good cause, or both, I hope you’ll book a spot.

Final Thoughts

This isn’t just a $50 photo. It’s a way to support people and animals doing the hard work behind the scenes every day. These charities mean something to me, and I hope they’ll resonate with you too.

I’m looking forward to seeing who walks through the studio doors and which causes you choose to support.

Let’s frame something good together.
